Twilight

by Tom Leopardi

I saw a bird
But flying so high
Its underbody and underwings
Were lit golden by the setting sun

I still had blue skies
But that light was coming
From much earlier in the day Hawaii

It flew toward the early rising moon
Half moon
But it took a leisurely left
And headed into the eastern evening darkening sky
