Tasteless

by Kimberly Gerdjikian

You never had a drink
but you know the taste of whiskey
with a hint of ginger ale.
My brain wasn’t sober
but my body knew too well
that stumbling up those stairs
was the closest to hell
I have ever been.
You were my natural sin.
My demons know.
They loved you in the night
and I can still recall
twisted limbs between sheets.
Your dog got in the way.
He would see you kissing me,
then, he did too.
