She was the first girl to take my heart.
She reached up through my rib cage,
with her sweet words and big, soft eyes,
fiddled my heart strings between delicate fingers.
I never stood a chance.

Her big, soft brown eyes held my stare for years,
pillow topped lips the only ones I yearned for
and a voice even Sirens would envy.
Her song beckoned deep within my soul
only to drown me in sorrow.

I never understood why Icarus
continued to fly too close to the heat of the sun
until our eyes met, the allure too great
my feathers were falling, wax melting,
I never stood a chance.
