The Hug

A sight that melts
the unseen heart
by the window
of the vestibule:

pure excitement paints
the young boy’s face,
a gentle curiosity as
his arm extends to point

out the latest treasure
of the day.

Smile unbridled, he turns
to his father and en-
courages him to see
the blessings of sunset

for himself.

With careful wonder,
the man directs his
attention towards a new
horizon.

Now he sees
what the young boy

sees.

And all I can do
is watch the embrace
as the train passes
by.
