No discharge

No discharge of firearms
on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail
only makes sense no matter
your wanderings. Your temporary stops.
Your permanent rests. 
It only makes sense
to enjoy your day
w/o a bullet
puncturing it.
But try telling that
to your neighbor
or congress.
Try selling that
w/your last golden breath
as the bright turquoise light
pierces the pain; wipes clean
the soul sin and absorbs you
into that restfulness
where no discharge of firearms
is allowed.
